The Noyes VFS 1 is a portable, video microscope designed to inspect fiber optic connectors. The VFS 1 can be used to inspect installed fiber optic connectors in patch panels, distribution frames, network equipment, cables and test equipment.

The VFS 1 comprises an inspection probe and display unit. The probe includes an internal LED coaxial light source and a miniature CCD video camera. No bulb replacement is required. The front arm of the probe may be used in two positions: straight or 60 . The focus control is located at the rear of the probe. This allows the user to easily focus the probe even while inspecting connectors on equipment back planes or densely packed patch panels. The probe accepts connector specific tips that can be quickly changed when inspecting different connector types. The display unit provides a high contrast, active matrix LCD display. The size and resolution of this display, and the resolving power of the optics used in the probe, allow detection of pits, scratches, and contamination within the polished end of 125 m fiber. In addition, a wide field of view allows inspection of the surrounding ferrule to a diameter of at least 250 m. A video output is provided for an external monitor.

This video microscope kit is used equipment but I think the photos demonstrate it is in very good condition. There is no damage, old inventory stickers, adhesive residue, or names carved into the case. Furthermore, I have verified the camera and display is in good working condition. The display can operate on either line power or internal battery. The internal battery is new in the packag. A bag of connector adapters are included along with the power pack, camera protective bumpers, and printed manual.
When I went to take the photo of the screen the picture had a lot of streaks and "scratches". However, what I discovered is that the connector had touched my arm and the streaks were oil from my skin. I never even noticed it touching my arm. Check the clean and dirty photos. I had no idea! I can't imagine working on fiber connectors without having a fiber microscope like this. You are really working in the dark.
