VINTAGE KLEIN-BUHRKE BELT AND KLEIN STRAP
Old belt and strap in fair used condition. Overall length of belt is 47 1/2 inches. Leather padding is nearly 5 inches wide. Belt length measured from the holes to the buckle pin ranges from 34 to 43 inches. Badge is marked: KLEIN-BUHRKE - MODEL 5249 N - SERIAL 177963 - DATE MFG. 11-72 - MADE IN USA. Very heavy duty - belt weighs over 5 pounds.
Strap is 1 3/4 inches wide and currently 54 inches long - appears to be adjustable approximately 20 inches longer or shorter. Clasps are marked M. KLEIN & SONS. Strap end is stamped 5295 5 8 - DATE ISSUED - M. KLEIN & SONS - -69 2-70. A previous owner has closed the adjustable loop on the strap with a couple wraps of black tape.
Heavily used, dusty and dirty. I know nothing about this type of item. Might only be suitable as a historic relic. I do not see any tears or significant structural damage and these things look indestructable, but surely you would want to have them inspected by a safety engineer before trusting your life to a nearly 30 year-old belt.
Thick canvas web belt and strap are dirty and very stiff. This stiffness might just be "toughness" - again, I'm ignorant. Leather padding is also very stiff, dry, worn and cracked in several places (see photos below). Stitching is all intact, rivets all look good and tight, no apparent rips or tears.
* Most of my items are "used", usually offered as-found. Some items are from collections, some have been cleaned.
* No unhappy surprises here - I try to describe all significant damage, flaws, previous owners markings, etc.
* Your item will be carefully packed, often double-boxed.
