Tektronix 040-0652-05 Custom Plug-In for TM-500 Series
For sale- a Tektronix 040-0652-05 single width custom plug-in module for the Tek TM-500 series Mainframes. Basically this is a do-it-yourself plug-in, allowing you to create your own. It comes with the chassis and blank breadboard ready for you to experiment with. The included instructions note that the TM-500 series modules will work in a TM-5000 rack, but that no provision is made in the blank module to connect to the GPIB bus in the 5000 series.
Here is what I have to offer. I have two units that are basically complete. Those have an outer trim piece removed from a single width blanking plate. They include a new chassis (top, bottom, 2 sides), an unused breadboard, a sealed package of hardware, and the instructions, all in the original box. They do not included a power supply, the manual refers you to Tektronix publication A-3186, Suggested Power Supply Circuits , but that is not included. So everything is there and new except the outer trim piece, which is used. You could probably use that as a template to cut a new one if it doesn t look nice enough to suit you.
In addition to the 2 complete, I have one more that is complete, except that the outer trim piece would actually be the inner aluminum plate from one of the blanks I used to complete the first two. The main difference is that the back panel pieces have screw holes at all four corner used to attach them to the chassis. It will look better than nothing and provide the necessary thickness and strength I suppose, but you might want to replace it with the front plate from a blank if you have one.
The fourth did not have anything to serve as the front trim piece, so I am including the front trim piece from a double width blank plug in, Tek part number 333-2098-00. That has the one hole required for the release mechanism, but will need to be cut in half to fit. I leave that cut for you to make. Other than that it is complete and new. If you like that option better than the one described above I will be happy to include the same new double width trim with that one too.
The fifth unit is also new in the box, but I did not have a hardware pack for that. Between the blanking plates and a box of spare parts I was able to put together a mostly complete set, but it is missing Tek parts #105-0718-01 and 105-0719-00, the Release Bar and Retaining Latch, respectively. So with that one you could create a blank module and I am guessing that you could insert and use it because the mainframe kinda grabs the business end of the circuit board and holds on, doesn t it? Probably no big deal if it is sitting on a workbench and not being moved around. What you might have trouble with is getting it back out unless you fabricate a pull of some description. This one would also come with a double width trim piece as described in the paragraph above.
