The UM-1D is a simple to use, high accuracy, hand-held Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge with the ability to measure through paint and/or coatings and even to eliminate the thickness of the paint or coating. The UM-1D offers Through-Coating or Paint Thickness Measuring Capability - You can now test painted tanks, pipes, etc., without needing to remove the paint or make corrections for the paint thickness.

Our DW-1D can communicate with PC to download test results - the only difference between DW-1D and UM-1D .
We use engine oil as coupling paste and provide the bottle for your own oil refill, to avoid leaking of the oil during transportation.

The following steel sample is with paint (red color) covered on it, the gauge can use "Standard" or "Through Coating" modes to check the sample.
When "Standard" (Std) mode is used, the gauge displays a value of 5.4mm, which includes the thickness of the paint and base material (steel).
After switch to "Through Coating" (Coat) mode, the thickness is 5.0 mm - this is the real thickness of the sample WITHOUT the paint layer.
* The tester comes with a standard PT-08 probe, a copy of operation manual, a carrying case with strap, a can of coupling paste (oil), a calibration block (4.0mm) built in the main unit as shown in the picture and two AA batteries.
