Every shop, even for electronics, needs a good, precision caliper. We use ours extensively during the design process to measure components and lead sizes during board layout and during package and enclosure design to make sure everything fits. We also keep one in the machine shop to double check the diameter of drill bits that have long since lost their size stamp as well as all of the normal machining applications. We're sure you can find dozens of other uses for it.
For sale here is a 6 inch (150mm for you metric folks) electronic digital caliper. It is made of hardened stainless steel. It is rugged enough for daily bench or shop use and has a very large display, which we particularly like. It comes in a padded palstic case with two batteries (one plus a spare).
It can be switched between inch and metric at the press of a button and also has a zero button for calibrating it when closed, or for making difference measurements between two pieces without having to stop and find a calculator or do it in your head. It also has a lock screw to lock the position of the slide. Like most calipers it has measuring faces for both external and internal measurements.
