Foam dielectric cables consists of an inner conductor and an outer conductor. Low-loss foamed insulation surrounds and adheres to the inner conductor. Cellflex foam dielectric cables use a dielectric of closed cell foam polyethylene with very low dielectric losses. The foam is manufactured using a state-of-the-art technique of gas injection, giving foam with very small closed cells, which reliably centre the inner conductor. This dielectric does not age and is not hygroscopic.
The outer conductors of flexible Cellflex foam dielectric cables have an annular corrugation. The super flexible series have helical corrugations. The corrugation valleys press into the foam dielectric, thereby closing the space between dielectric and outer conductor. Any water that might enter the cable as a result of damage is impeded from moving along the cable.
