Vegetable sourced , Polysorbate 85 is used in a variety of applications. Used to solubilize, disperse and emulsify in all types of formulations. Often used in combinatin with other emulsifiers to make oil in water and water in oil emulsion sysytems.
Used alone, it is an excellent solubilizer of vegetable oils and fragrances, for wetting, thickening etc...
It is great in oil in water emulsions,like your lotions, creams, hair conditioners, cream rinses and other preparations. And, blend with vegetable oils to create bath oils that "bloom," when added to bath water.
Typically polysorbates are nonirritating to the skin. Lubricant.
Environmentally readily biodegradable, so they are used in many neutral cleaners as an emulsifying cleaner to make "Green" Cleaners since the components are plant and sugar derived.
Polysorbate 85 is typically derived from sugars and fatty acids that are plant derived.
The HLB of poly 85 is 11. Customary Usage: 1% - 25%
