This tool has a replaceable die set that is intended for a "U" shaped uncoated metal T&B box connector but I've found that it makes a really great crimping tool for barrel type butt splices, ring terminals, etc.
It makes a very neat and strong crimp on any uncoated metal or plastic coated barrel connector / terminal in a size range of 0.170" to 0.25" outside diameter. This makes it useful for applications with many conectors / terminals in the 12AWG to 20AWG range without any adjustment necessary to the tool. It makes a superior crimp without damaging the insulation on the terminal and provides a lot of surface contact between the wire and terminal for good electrical properties.
T&B tools are superior to many on the market due to solid construction and the "Shure-Stake" ratcheting feature that ensures a complete crimp, and can hold your connector while you insert the wire or do other tasks. These retail new for over $200.
I have included a picture of some of the crimps I've made with them. Not only are they beautifully shaped, I've found them to be as strong as any other crimp method I've used. Thanks for looking!
