Our birds are healthy and happy. The eggs come out of our breeders, which we do not show as too minimize fertility issues due to stress and disease exposure. We provide our birds with clean fresh pools to promote breeding and collect eggs daily. We do not wash the eggs (that is up to you when you get them) However we prefer that you do not wash them as this could contaminate your eggs and render them unhatchable. We do not wash the eggs we set in our incubators and have had a great hatch rate this way.
I highly recommend purchasing "Storey's Guide To Raising Ducks" (by Dave Holderread) It has everything you need to know about hatching ducks and raising ducks in it. Holderread's an expert in ducks and can point anyone new or old to ducks in the right direction.
