General: The principle applied for monitoring ATM network is shown in the picture below. Multiple dedicated Virtual Channels (PVC s) are generated and monitored at UNI interface of an ATM Node. The same PVC s are re-routed by the ATM Node toward other network Nodes, thus creating a virtual network in parallel to the traffic network. ATM quality measurements are performed on dedicated test PVC s, transported on the same bearer with ATM traffic, thus allowing in-service control of the network quality.
The system can generate and monitor up to 127 ATM VC s /board and max number of boards is 5 boards/RTU or 12boards/RTU, depending from the type of adopted measurement device. System capacity in Release 4.0 is limited to 200 ATM VC s/RTU.
