The Elide Fire extinguishing ball is new to North america, and is a revolutionary, light weight, fire fighting tool. Filled with non-toxic standard dry chemical fire extinguishing powder (mono ammonium phosphate) it is suitable for Class A, B and C fires, eg Wood, Gasoline, or Electricity. It is made of pent foam (polystyrene), and round in shape. It is CFC free, and environmentally friendly. In fact it can be composted or buried at the end of its usable life.
This is a maintenance free product. You simply place it, in its mounting bracket (bracket is included) in a high risk area. Once flames make contact with the fire ball it will activate (within 3-5 seconds) and spread dry extinguishing powder in a 360 degree pattern for 4 meters (13ft). On activation, a loud, audible bang (>140db) will also be heard. This is to alert people in the area, asleep or not, that there is a dangerous situation.
Unlike conventional systems, the fire ball must have contact with actual flames. It is perfect for mounting in hot areas, such as in engine compartments, or above stoves. Heat alone, will not set it off! Therefore it is very popular in performance cars, and in boat engine rooms.
Additionally, it can be grabbed off its mounting bracket and rolled, or thrown into a fire. This means the user does not have to approach the fire.
