Newport NSC200 Handheld Motion Control System New Surplus
Model/Part No:NSC200 Our Item ID: 5853
Newport NSC200 Handheld Motion Control System (1) NSC200 NewStep hand-held motion controller. (1) NSA12 11mm travel motorized miniature linear actuator. (1) NSC-PS25 Power Supply. (1) User Manual with Software. Various other cords and mounts pictured. The Newport NSC200 is an integrated, hand-held stepper motor controller-driver offering affordable, single axis control of the NSA12 micrometer replacement actuators (see NewStep Series), CMA-PP actuators (Compact Motorized Actuators), MFA-PP linear stages (see Miniature Linear Stages) and the NSR1 (see Universal Rotator) rotation stages.
The NSC200 is an integrated, hand-held stepper motor controller-driver offering affordable, single axis control of the NSA12 micrometer replacement actuators (see NewStep Series), CMA-PP actuators (Compact Motorized Actuators), MFA-PP linear stages (see Miniature Linear Stages) and the NSR1 (see Universal Rotator) rotation stages. Used alone, the NSC200 is an easy and affordable option to control a single positioner. The handheld NSC200 has a convenient single control knob and features a 64x microstepping ratio for ultra-smooth, high resolution positioning. Adding an external NSC-SB switchbox allows a single NSC200 to control up to eight positioners, one axis at time. Two primary control modes are selectable whether or not a switchbox is used: Local (manual control) and Remote (computer control). Selection of Local or Remote is easily accomplished by pressing the knob of the NSC200. The control mode is indicated by the color of a tri-color LED. Two secondary control modes are selectable whether the controller is in Local or Remote mode - Velocity or Position. In Velocity mode, the rotary knob is turned to select one of eight speed settings for each direction. The farther the knob is rotated, the faster the positioner moves. Rotating the knob in one direction moves the positioner in that direction. Rotate the knob in the other direction, and the actuator moves in that other direction. This method provides superior adjustment control over potentiometer-based designs. When released, the spring-loaded knob always returns to its zero point, thus stopping actuator motion. In Position mode, the rotary knob is turned to its extreme clockwise or counterclockwise position. The controller then moves the positioner by a preset number of micro-steps, either up or down. The NSC200 also has a serial RS485 communication link that allows computer control of up 256 units in parallel. The NSC200 RS485 interface can be accessed by using the RS485 to RS232 converter NSC-485-232-I that plugs directly into the PC's RS232 port. For USB control, use the USB-232 adapter in addition to the NSC-485-232-I. For computer controlled operation, the manual knob on the NSC200 can be disabled. The controller comes with LabView VI's and Windows based software that supports configurations and enables convenient remote computer control. Applications can also be automated using LabView or other software by sending basic commands to NewStep controller through the integrated RS485 port.
