Great for testing home projects, experimentation, lab demos, or ham radio enthusiasts.
Note: top 2 handles are worn down to the metal carriers but its not like you carry this around all the time.
Otherwise this unit is in clean condition considering its age.
The type 581A is a high speed lab oscilloscope. This unit utilizes a type 82 plug-in providing rise time and bandwidth characteristics of 0.1V/cm DC to >= 85Mhz with an equivalent rise time of 4.1 ns or less. The unit is wired for 117VAC operation. According to Tektronix the power transformer can be rewired from 110 to 220VAC operation if needed.

The type 82 plug-in extends the versatility of the 580 series Oscilloscope by providing dual channel trace operation. The type 82 contains 2 identical fast rise, high gain, calibrated preamplifier channels. Each channel has a basic deflection factor of 100mV/cm. Two integral x10 amplifiers extend the basic deflection factor to 10mV/cm. Separate coupling, attenuation, variable gain, and vertical position controls are provided for each channel.
The channels can be electronically switched either by the scope sweep or a free running rate of approx. 100kHz or 1MHz. Electronic switching allows multiple signals to be observed together and can be set to 180 degrees out of phase from each other.
